Incubating Eggs!

Today, Room 19 started their egg hatching journey! We were very excited to put our chicken eggs into the incubator and learn about all the expectations and requirements for incubating them. We hope we are successful but we know not to count our chickens before they hatch!

Week 6 Term 3

This week Room 19 celebrated the first day of Spring. In Writing, we have been learning how to write a memoir with 'show not tell' language. We have had a busy few days completing our calendar art which has been inspired by Hundertwasser. We have enjoyed looking at some of his beautiful art and buildings to get some ideas.  For Te reo Maori we have been making rakau sticks. In athletics, we learnt the scissor kick technique for high jump with Tracey-Lee.

Speech finals were this week and Room 19's two finalist both did a fantastic job - congratulations to Zoe for 2nd place and Julia for 3rd place!

Week 5 Term 3

This week Room 19 has had a busy week with speeches, athletics and animal dress up day for the SPCA!
In athletics with Tracey-Lee, we learnt the correct technique for throwing a discus. In writing, we have been presenting speeches and they are all sounding fantastic. In Maths, we have continued to learn addition and subtraction strategies and we will be starting to revise multiplication strategies next week. In reading, we have been learning about the visualising strategy and students have been making comic strips and story cubes. We have been making poi and we are starting to learn the actions for some waiata.
Thank you for all the kind donations for the SPCA on animal dress up day.
